I am so full of joy over all of the Nourishment Sessions that have been booked recently. How great is it that families are making documenting this special time a priority! Not only do these sessions leave one with great memories of a time that goes by so very quickly, but when shared, they help the good fight to normalize breastfeeding.
I find it astonishing to still hear stories of women being shamed into washroom stalls to feed their babies. I can't wrap my head around the thoughts of our society surrounding breasts, sexuality and nursing. Breasts are EVERYWHERE! They're plastered all over billboards, magazine covers, mall windows and television commercials. Breasts are used to sell products, but God forbid they actually be used for their intended purpose. How did we get here? How are we only ok with breasts when sexualized? I just don't get it. I'm all for women feeling sexually empowered and displaying their bodies in whatever way they choose, and not feel shameful for it, and the same goes for public breastfeeding.
We live in this mixed up world of double standards, where big hairy, useless man nipples are ok for public eyes. This world that over sexualizes women and then slut shames them. This world that allows pictures of sexy breasts and bottoms to be plastered all over the internet, but removes images of breastfeeding and birth. So I want to extend a big thank you to my clients who choose to share these moments with the world, despite what that confused world may think.
This is Princess Cece, you've seen her perfect face many times, and I expect you will watch her grow. Thank you Courtney for being my muse and one of my biggest fans and supporters.
